Huntsville Executive Airport was established in 1966 as a privately-owned general aviation facility. In 1993, the Madison County Executive Airport Authority (MCEAA) was formed to acquire and operate the airport. Originally named Huntsville Airport North, it was subsequently renamed Madison County Executive Airport before adopting its current name, Huntsville Executive Airport. The airfield initially featured a runway measuring 3,500 by 60 feet. After the formation of the MCEAA, a master plan was developed to guide the airport’s expansion.

Today, Huntsville Executive Airport serves as a premier aviation hub in North Alabama, offering a comprehensive range of aviation-related services and facilities. The airport hosts a distinguished fixed base operator, an expanding flight training school, a multi-million dollar military contracting presence, and more than 80 hangars and shade ports catering to the general aviation community. Additionally, the airport features a well-maintained runway measuring 6,500 by 100 feet, supporting a wide variety of aircraft operations.
